The goddess, fully armed, stands while she is about to strike her enemy with the spear she once held in her raised hand. In the other hand she would have held her shield. She wears chiton and peplos and has her aegis over her shoulders, covering also her left arm. Along the aegis’ hem project stylised snakes but there is no gorgoneion in the aegis’ centre. The goddess’ armour includes an Attic-type helmet with high crest.
The figurine belongs to a series of bronze depictions of Athena inspired possibly by the goddess’ bigger-than-life statue on the pediment of the Old Temple (Ακρ. 631 α, A-C) as well as the way she was depicted on Panathenaic amphorae.
